Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has conducted the first phase of training for enumerators and supervisors ahead of the Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO), strengthening field-level preparedness for the upcoming Census exercise.
The training programme was organised at BRM Government Law College, Panjabari, bringing together personnel who will be involved in carrying out the Houselisting and Housing Census in the city. The initiative forms part of the preparations for the forthcoming Census operations.
According to the GMC, the training focused on improving the capacity of enumerators and supervisors to conduct accurate, systematic and efficient field data collection. Participants were briefed on enumeration procedures, documentation protocols and operational guidelines to ensure uniform implementation of the exercise.
Sharing the update on its official X handle, the civic body said the programme was aimed at enhancing the readiness of field staff and laying a strong foundation for the successful conduct of the Census.
Officials emphasised that proper training of field personnel is essential to maintaining the accuracy and consistency of information collected during the houselisting exercise, which serves as an important component of the overall Census process.
The GMC said the training reflects its efforts to ensure that the Census is carried out in an organised and efficient manner, with well-prepared enumerators and supervisors equipped to undertake their responsibilities in the field.
