GMC Imposes Penalty for Illegal Posters on Ulubari Foot Bridge

Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has imposed a penalty for the unauthorised pasting of posters on the Ulubari Foot Bridge during an enforcement drive aimed at protecting public property and maintaining the city’s civic infrastructure.

According to the civic body, the action was carried out by the Assistant Sanitary Inspector (ASI) and the Supervisor of Division-IV during an inspection at Byelane No. 8 in Lachit Nagar. The Ulubari Foot Bridge, where the violation was detected, falls under GMC Division-II.

Sharing the update on its official X handle, GMC said the violators were penalised for defacing public infrastructure by illegally displaying posters. The corporation reiterated that unauthorised posters and advertisements damage public property and affect the overall appearance of the city.

The civic body appealed to citizens, organisations and other stakeholders to refrain from pasting posters or other publicity materials on public structures without permission. It emphasised that protecting public spaces is a shared responsibility and called for greater public cooperation in preserving the city’s infrastructure.

GMC also urged residents to support efforts to keep Guwahati clean, orderly and visually appealing by respecting civic regulations and avoiding activities that deface public property.
