
Guwahati, July 23: Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested during an anti-narcotics operation conducted by Guwahati Police in the Gandhibasti area, where officers recovered 14 vials of suspected heroin along with three mobile phones.
According to a statement shared by Guwahati Police, the operation was carried out by a team from Chandmari Police Station under the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD). The arrested individuals have been identified as Bhaskar Medhi (22), alias Kutuba, a resident of Dhupdhara; Momi Das (25), alias Tulumoni, from Birubari; and Babul Sarkar (28), also of Birubari.
Police said the suspected narcotics and mobile phones were seized from the possession of the accused during the operation. The electronic devices are expected to be examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
A case has been registered, and legal action has been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigators are also working to determine the source of the suspected contraband and whether the accused have links to a wider drug trafficking network.
The arrests form part of Guwahati Police’s continuing drive against illegal narcotics trafficking in the city. Further investigation into the case is underway.
