Kolkata, June 26: BJP MLA Ratna Debnath, the mother of the victim in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case, on Friday said she remains hopeful that justice will ultimately be delivered despite the prolonged delay in the investigation.
Speaking to reporters after court proceedings related to the case, Debnath said she had not seen the status report as it had been placed before the judges. Referring to the court’s observations, she said the judges appeared dissatisfied with the progress of the investigation, leaving her deeply disturbed. She noted that nearly two years have passed since the incident, yet the victim’s family is still awaiting justice.
Debnath also questioned the pace of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, saying she could not understand what was preventing the agency from completing the investigation. Despite her disappointment, she expressed unwavering faith in the judicial process, stating that she had committed no wrongdoing and was confident justice would eventually be served. She added that she would continue her fight patiently and fearlessly until those responsible are brought to justice.
