Pune, June 24: What was initially believed to be a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort near Pune has now turned into a sensational murder investigation, with police alleging that 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agrawal was deliberately pushed into a deep gorge by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators say a seemingly insignificant detail — a man wearing a hoodie in scorching 33°C weather — became the key clue that helped expose the alleged conspiracy.
Ketan Agrawal died on June 18 after falling hundreds of feet into a gorge during a trek at Lohagad Fort. Initially, authorities registered the case as an accidental death based on statements that he had slipped and fallen while trekking. However, doubts raised by the victim’s family and subsequent police investigations led to a deeper probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to investigators, CCTV footage from the fort and surrounding areas revealed the presence of a third individual following the couple. The man was seen wearing shorts and a hoodie pulled low enough to conceal his face despite the unusually hot weather. Police found the attire suspicious and began tracking the individual’s movements. Further analysis of CCTV footage, call records, witness statements, and technical evidence allegedly linked the man to Chetan Chaudhary, who police claim was in a relationship with Siya Goyal.
Police allege that the accused had planned the crime in advance and had even made multiple unsuccessful attempts before the fatal incident. Investigators claim the pair viewed Ketan as an obstacle to their relationship and eventually executed the plan during the June 18 trek at Lohagad Fort. Both accused have been arrested, and a murder case has been registered. Authorities say further investigation is underway to determine whether any additional individuals were involved in the alleged conspiracy.
