Poet and author Kumar Vishwas has triggered a fresh political controversy after making a sharp remark involving “cockroaches” during a public event in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. His comments, widely circulated on social media, are being viewed by many as an indirect attack on the recently viral “Cockroach Janata Party” trend.
During his speech, Vishwas recalled what his mother had told him about cockroaches during his childhood. He said that cockroaches live in darkness, gather in groups, thrive in filth, and destroy well-maintained systems and beautiful things. He further described them as undesirable creatures born out of decay.
The poet then used the popular insecticide brand “HIT” as a metaphor, saying that if cockroaches exist in the country, then “HIT” products also exist to eliminate them. He added that many such “HITs” are currently active across the country, including in places like West Bengal and Punjab.
The remarks quickly went viral online and sparked mixed reactions. Supporters described the speech as political satire, while critics accused Vishwas of using aggressive and divisive language.
The controversy comes amid ongoing public debate around the “Cockroach Janata Party,” a satirical online movement that emerged after reported remarks by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant comparing certain unemployed youths and activists to “cockroaches” during a court hearing earlier this month. The Chief Justice later clarified that his comments were misquoted and were aimed at individuals using fake degrees and attacking institutions.
