Guwahati (Assam): Guwahati Police have arrested a 26-year-old man after allegedly recovering 3.5 kilograms of ganja during a search operation conducted at his residence in the Lalganesh area of the city.
According to an official statement shared by Guwahati Police on Sunday, a team from Dispur Police Station carried out the search at the residence of Raju Shah (26) as part of the ongoing anti-drug drive under the #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign.
During the operation, police reportedly seized 3.5 kg of ganja from the premises. Following the recovery, Raju Shah was taken into custody, and the contraband was seized as evidence.
Police said legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further details regarding the investigation have not yet been disclosed.
The seizure is part of Assam Police’s continued crackdown on illegal narcotics, with law enforcement agencies carrying out regular search operations across the state to curb drug trafficking and related offences.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
