Mahoba, June 22: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday highlighted the growing defence manufacturing capabilities of the state, claiming that the BrahMos missile produced under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor demonstrated India’s military strength and left Pakistan pleading for mercy during military operations.
Addressing a public gathering in Mahoba, the Chief Minister said the state government had fulfilled its commitment to eliminate organised crime and connect Bundelkhand through major infrastructure projects, including expressways. He noted that the region is now emerging as a significant hub for defence production.
Referring to the Defence Industrial Corridor being developed in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi said that the people of Bundelkhand are not only serving the nation by joining the armed forces but are also contributing to national security through the manufacture of defence equipment and weapons in the region.
The Chief Minister specifically mentioned the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and said that missiles manufactured in Uttar Pradesh had showcased their effectiveness during “Operation Sindoor.” He claimed that after the deployment of the BrahMos missile in the operation, Pakistan was compelled to appeal for restraint and was unable to match India’s military capabilities.
Questioning Pakistan’s ability to confront India militarily, Yogi asserted that the success of the BrahMos missile had proven the strength of India’s indigenous defence manufacturing sector.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government aims to expand the Defence Industrial Corridor across Bundelkhand, with Mahoba, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Jhansi emerging as major defence manufacturing hubs in the coming years. He added that efforts are also underway to develop industrial clusters in the region to attract investment and accelerate economic growth.
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor is one of India’s flagship defence manufacturing initiatives and is expected to play a key role in strengthening the country’s self-reliance in the defence sector.
