The Supreme Court on Monday heard the case related to the death of 33-year-old actress and model Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her in-laws’ residence in Bhopal on May 12.
A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi reportedly raised concerns over the investigation process after Twisha’s family alleged institutional bias, evidence tampering and procedural lapses.
Twisha had married advocate Samarth Singh last year. Her family has accused her husband and mother-in-law of mental harassment and financial demands. The family has also sought examination of phone records and electronic evidence as part of the investigation.
During the hearing, a remark by the Solicitor General drew attention, stating that “it is better for a daughter to be divorced than face such an unfortunate incident,” highlighting concerns over societal pressure on women to continue troubled marriages.
