
GUWAHATI: In a major crackdown on theft and burglary, a team from Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) has arrested six alleged thieves wanted in connection with multiple cases, along with a person accused of receiving stolen property.
The six arrested individuals have been identified as Mahibul Islam (38), Nitul Medhi alias Babu (28), Rajib Ali alias Alo (24), Deepak Sah (28), Deepak Das alias Chitra (30), and Rubul Ojah alias Malpua (42).
Police also arrested S K Maidul Islam (42) from the Lakhtokia area for allegedly receiving stolen property.
According to Guwahati Police, the operation led to the recovery and seizure of several suspected stolen items, including one laptop, one mobile phone and 0.89 grams of gold.
Police also seized a number of tools allegedly used for burglary, including pliers, an Allen key, a screwdriver, a wrench and a torchlight.
The arrests were made by an EGPD team from Basistha Police Station as part of action against suspects wanted in multiple theft and burglary cases. Further legal proceedings have been initiated, police said.
