Guwahati: Bollywood actor Salman Khan has launched a flood relief initiative for families affected by the devastating floods in Assam, with assistance being provided through his charitable foundation, Being Human, in partnership with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC) Assam.
The relief campaign comes as several districts of Assam continue to face severe flooding, leaving thousands of people displaced and in need of essential supplies. While shooting for director Vamshi Paidipally’s upcoming untitled film in Mumbai, Khan has reportedly been coordinating the humanitarian initiative with SKFC Assam.
The first phase of the programme has commenced in Sivasagar, where volunteers are distributing ready-to-eat food packets to flood-affected families. The consignments, transported from Guwahati, contain biscuits, jaggery, poha, puffed rice, bread, cheese and jam. According to the organisers, each packet is sufficient to meet a family’s food requirements for approximately three days.
Besides food supplies, relief teams are also providing sanitary pads, mosquito coils, drinking water and water purification tablets to help address immediate health and hygiene needs in the flood-hit areas.
The second phase of the initiative, scheduled to begin next week, will focus on distributing ration kits and essential medicines to affected families. In the final phase, Being Human plans to support the restoration of schools and hospitals that have been damaged by the floods.
The initiative is part of the ongoing humanitarian response to Assam’s flood crisis, with volunteers and relief organisations continuing to provide emergency assistance to communities affected across the state.
