The makers of Ramayana: Part 1 have officially unveiled the film’s first trailer, offering audiences a detailed glimpse into director Nitesh Tiwari’s cinematic adaptation of the ancient Indian epic. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film is being positioned as one of the most ambitious mythological projects ever mounted in Indian cinema.
Released simultaneously in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, the trailer debuted during the auspicious Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 AM IST. It introduces viewers to the story by depicting Ravana’s rise as the ruler of Lanka before shifting to Ayodhya, where Lord Ram (Ranbir Kapoor), Goddess Sita (Sai Pallavi) and Lakshman (Ravie Dubey) are introduced.
As the narrative progresses, the trailer follows Ram’s exile, the encounter with Surpanakha, and the abduction of Sita, setting the stage for the epic conflict between good and evil. The preview also highlights large-scale visual effects, action sequences and a cinematic score composed by Academy Award winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
Speaking about the project, producer Namit Malhotra said Ramayana is more than a legendary tale, describing it as an integral part of India’s cultural heritage and traditions. He added that the team’s goal is to present the epic to global audiences with authenticity while combining modern filmmaking techniques with large-scale production values.
The film is being produced by Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with the global visual effects company DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, making it one of the largest international co-productions originating from India.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal, and written by Shridhar Raghavan, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, and Ravie Dubey in key roles.
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026.
