
In a significant gesture of political unity and public welfare, newly elected Algapur MLA Zubair Anam Majumdar paid a courtesy visit to former MLA Nizam Choudhury to discuss the overall development of the Algapur-Katlicherra region in Assam’s Hailakandi district.
The meeting, which has drawn positive reactions in political circles, focused on strengthening cooperation beyond political differences for the betterment of the people. Both leaders emphasized the need for collective efforts to accelerate development projects in the constituency.
During the interaction, Zubair Anam Majumdar stated that although political ideologies may differ, development of the region should remain the common priority. He said the welfare of the people of Algapur-Katlicherra is his primary objective and expressed hope of receiving guidance and support from the experienced former legislator in implementing various developmental initiatives.
Speaking to the media, the newly elected MLA acknowledged the political experience and seniority of Nizam Choudhury and said he would continue seeking his advice in public matters.
“We are all here to serve the people. Names may change in politics, but public service must continue. I will seek guidance from Nizam Bhai whenever necessary and together we will work for the people,” he said.
On the other hand, Nizam Choudhury congratulated the new MLA and said the people’s verdict in a democracy must always be respected. He assured full cooperation for the development and welfare of the constituency.
“The people of Algapur-Katlicherra have placed their trust in Zubair. He should continue working sincerely for the public. We are always ready to support him in every possible way,” the former MLA said.
Local residents and political observers have described the meeting as a positive and mature political development, noting that such cooperation could play a vital role in accelerating infrastructure, welfare, and public service initiatives in the region.
