Over One Lakh Women in Nagaon to Receive Financial Assistance Under Assam Government’s Entrepreneurship Scheme

Nagaon: The Assam Government is preparing to extend financial support to more than one lakh women in the remaining three Assembly constituencies of Nagaon district under its flagship Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), a programme aimed at encouraging women-led entrepreneurship and strengthening economic self-reliance.

According to official plans, financial assistance will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries in the Dhing, Rupahihat and Samaguri Assembly constituencies through special programmes scheduled to be held on July 20 and 21.

A total of over 1,01,716 women are expected to benefit from the initiative during the two-day distribution drive. Eligible beneficiaries will receive financial assistance in the form of cheques as part of the state government’s continued efforts to promote self-employment opportunities and support women in establishing or expanding income-generating activities.

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan is one of the Assam Government’s key welfare initiatives designed to empower women by providing financial backing for entrepreneurial ventures. The scheme seeks to enhance women’s participation in economic activities while enabling them to become financially independent.

Officials said the upcoming distribution programme marks the next phase of the scheme’s implementation in Nagaon district, covering the remaining Assembly constituencies yet to receive benefits under the initiative.

The government expects the financial assistance to help thousands of women strengthen their livelihoods, undertake small business activities and contribute to household income, further advancing the state’s objective of promoting inclusive economic development through women-centric welfare programmes.
