NFR Extends Katihar–Amritsar Special Train Service with Five More Trips

Guwahati: To accommodate increasing passenger traffic and reduce overcrowding on regular services, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the extension of the 05736/05735 Katihar–Amritsar–Katihar Special Train by five additional trips in each direction.

According to an official release, Train No. 05736 will continue operating from Katihar to Amritsar, departing every Wednesday at 9:00 pm from August 5 to September 2. The return service, Train No. 05735, will leave Amritsar at 1:25 pm every Friday between August 7 and September 4.

NFR said the special train will maintain its existing operational pattern, including its timetable, stoppages, coach composition and maintenance arrangements, ensuring continuity for passengers already familiar with the service.

The railway zone has introduced the additional trips in response to growing travel demand on the route, with the aim of providing more travel options and easing pressure on regular train services.

Passengers have been advised to verify the latest train schedule, halt stations and other travel-related information before commencing their journey. Updated details are available through the IRCTC, the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and the official social media platforms of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
