Guwahati, August 1: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified restoration efforts near New Harangajao station after ground settlement affected both Line-1 and Line-2 tracks on the Lumding–Badarpur Hill Section. Despite the disruption, train operations are continuing through Line-3, with railway authorities implementing enhanced safety protocols to ensure passenger safety.
As restoration work progresses, NFR has announced the cancellation of several train services scheduled for August 1 and 2. The affected trains include the Guwahati–Silchar Express, Silchar–Guwahati Express, Guwahati–Dullabcherra Express, and Dullabcherra–Guwahati Express.
In addition to cancellations, the railway has revised the schedules of multiple trains operating in the region. Services on the Narangi–Agartala, Agartala–Narangi, Guwahati–Sairang, Sairang–Guwahati, Agartala–Deoghar, Rangiya–Silchar, and Silchar–Rangiya routes will operate according to modified timings until normal conditions are restored.
NFR also informed passengers that Train No. 01665 Rani Kamlapati–Agartala Special, which began its journey on July 30, will be regulated en route due to the ongoing restoration work, which could result in delays.
Railway officials said engineering teams remain deployed at the affected site and restoration activities are progressing on a war footing. Train movement through the operational track is being closely monitored, with additional safety measures in place to minimise risks while repair work continues.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest train schedules and operational updates before commencing their journey, as services may continue to be affected until the damaged tracks are fully restored.
