Agartala: Passengers travelling on the Rani Kamalapati–Agartala Special Express can now expect a safer and more comfortable journey as Indian Railways has introduced modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches on the route, replacing the older Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches.
According to an official press release, Train No. 01665, operating from Rani Kamalapati, commenced service with the newly introduced LHB rake on July 9. Its return service, Train No. 01666 from Agartala, is scheduled to begin operating with the upgraded coaches from July 12.
The new 22-coach LHB rake is equipped with several advanced features designed to enhance passenger safety and travel comfort. These include an anti-telescopic design that offers improved protection during collisions, superior suspension systems for a smoother ride, higher-speed capability and upgraded interiors aimed at providing a better onboard experience.
The introduction of LHB coaches is part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to modernise its passenger services by adopting advanced technology and improving onboard amenities. The transition is expected to offer travellers on the route enhanced reliability, greater safety and improved comfort during their journey.
Railway officials stated that the upgrade reflects the organisation’s continued focus on strengthening passenger-centric infrastructure while gradually replacing conventional coaches with more advanced rolling stock across the network.
