Guwahati Police Arrest Two Alleged Thieves, Recover Stolen Electrical Equipment

Guwahati: Guwahati Police have arrested two alleged thieves and recovered several stolen items, including electrical equipment and wiring, during an operation conducted by a team from Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD).

According to a post shared by Guwahati Police on X, the accused have been identified as Biswajit Boro (22), a resident of Nalbari, and Rupam Sarkar (21) of Gorchuk. The duo was apprehended after police allegedly found them in possession of suspected stolen property.

During the operation, police recovered one air conditioner (AC) stabiliser, one tile-cutting machine and approximately 25 kilograms of electric wires, all believed to have been stolen. The recovered items have been seized as part of the investigation.

Following the arrests, legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused in accordance with the law. Police have not yet disclosed the source of the recovered items or whether the accused are linked to any other theft cases.

The recovery forms part of Guwahati Police’s ongoing efforts to curb property-related crimes and strengthen security across the city. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin of the seized items and determine if additional individuals were involved in the alleged theft.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or incidents of theft to the nearest police station to aid in preventing such offences.
