Delhi Government Issues Bakrid Guidelines, Warns Against Illegal Animal Sacrifice

Ahead of the Bakrid festival, the Delhi Government has issued strict guidelines regarding animal sacrifice, public hygiene and illegal animal trade in the national capital.

According to the guidelines issued by the Development Department, sacrifice of cows, calves, camels and other prohibited animals is completely illegal in Delhi. Authorities warned that any violation or attempt to carry out such acts will invite criminal cases and legal action.

The government also prohibited animal sacrifice in public places, roads, streets and open areas. Officials stated that sacrifices should only be performed at authorised and designated locations.

Illegal buying and selling of animals in roadside markets and public areas has also been banned. The guidelines further directed people not to dispose of blood or animal waste into drains, sewers or roads after sacrifice.

Citizens have been urged to report any violation of the rules to the police or the concerned government department. The Delhi government also extended Bakrid greetings to residents while appealing for peaceful and lawful celebrations.
