Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, alleging that it has been misleading Muslim voters with “false promises” for years and claimed that people are gradually realising the reality.
Speaking during a political interaction, Hazarika said the BJP’s organisational strength in the area is improving and expressed confidence that the party would achieve better electoral results in the future.
“We have tried to strengthen communication with party workers here. Around 600 to 650 workers gathered, which shows that our organisation exists and is growing stronger,” he said.
The minister claimed that the Congress party no longer has any realistic chance of returning to power in Assam. “People will understand that there is no benefit in voting for Congress. For the last 20 to 23 years, nobody sees any hope of Congress returning to power in Assam,” he remarked.
Referring to the upcoming by-election, Hazarika expressed hope that many voters who previously supported Congress and the AIUDF would shift towards the BJP.
He also spoke about alleged middlemen operating within police stations and revenue circle offices. Hazarika stated that such “dalals” would not be tolerated and assured that the matter would be discussed with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Wherever there are middlemen in police stations or circle offices, action will be taken to remove them,” he said.
Addressing questions regarding minority-dominated areas, the minister alleged that Congress has continued to secure Muslim votes through misinformation.
“How long will Congress keep taking votes from Muslim people by telling lies? One day the Muslim community will realise that supporting Congress was also a mistake, just as many now say voting for AIUDF was a mistake,” Hazarika said.
He further claimed that several constituencies have lagged behind in development because Congress legislators failed to perform effectively. According to him, the people themselves must now decide whether they want their constituencies to remain backward or move forward through development.
Hazarika expressed confidence that the public would support the BJP’s development agenda in the coming elections.
