New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organisational reshuffle by appointing new state presidents in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Tripura. The move is being seen as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its organisational structure ahead of upcoming elections in several states.
According to official party announcements, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra has been appointed as the new president of the BJP’s Delhi unit. In Haryana, the party has named Dr. Archana Gupta as the new state president. Senior leader Kewal Singh Dhillon has been given charge of the BJP’s Punjab unit, while Abhishek Debroy has been appointed as the president of the party’s Tripura unit.
The appointments were announced under the leadership of BJP national president Nitin Nabin as part of a broader organisational restructuring exercise within the party.
Political observers believe the leadership changes are aimed at energising party workers and strengthening BJP’s presence in key states, particularly in Punjab and Delhi where the party is looking to expand its support base ahead of future electoral contests.
Harsh Malhotra, who currently serves as a Union Minister of State, replaces Virendra Sachdeva as the Delhi BJP chief. Meanwhile, Kewal Singh Dhillon’s appointment in Punjab is being viewed as strategically important as the state moves closer to the next Assembly elections.
The BJP leadership is expected to focus on organisational expansion, cadre mobilisation and election preparedness under the newly appointed state presidents.
