TINSUKIA, September 3: A group of agriculture students from Arunachal Pradesh recently got an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to agricultural research and development activities during an educational visit to Tinsukia.
As part of their exposure programme, 35 fourth-year Agriculture students from Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai, visited the Assam Agricultural University-Citrus and Plantation Crops Research Station (AAU-CPCRS) in Tinsukia.
During their visit, the students were introduced to the work being carried out at the research station, particularly its activities related to citrus and plantation crops. The interaction offered them an opportunity to understand how agricultural research contributes to crop development and farming practices.
Dr Raaj Kumar Kakoti, Chief Scientist of AAU-CPCRS, interacted with the visiting students and provided an overview of the station’s achievements, research programmes and mandate. The session also helped the students gain a better understanding of the role of specialised research centres in strengthening the agricultural sector.
The exposure visit was aimed at giving the students practical insights beyond the classroom and familiarising them with ongoing research initiatives in the field of agriculture.
