Silchar: The Assam State Election Commission on Wednesday released the Final Photo Electoral Roll for the newly constituted Silchar Municipal Corporation, completing the revision process ahead of the forthcoming civic body elections.
The final electoral roll was published after the Commission examined and disposed of all claims and objections received following the publication of the draft roll. The draft electoral roll for the corporation’s 42 municipal wards had been released on June 29, 2026, inviting public scrutiny before its finalisation.
According to the Commission, the Silchar Municipal Corporation has a total electorate of 2,70,774 voters, including 1,29,878 male electors, 1,40,885 female electors, and 11 voters registered under the ‘Other’ gender category.
To facilitate the conduct of the elections, the Commission has identified 300 polling stations across the municipal corporation area. However, it clarified that the number may be revised as the process of rationalising polling stations is still underway.
The Final Electoral Roll, without photographs, has been made available for public inspection at the office of the Silchar Municipal Corporation, the offices of the respective Registration Officers for all 42 wards, and on the official website of the Assam State Election Commission.
The Commission has also enabled online access to the electoral roll through the ‘Citizen Corner’ section of its portal. Eligible voters can verify their names using their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number or download the electoral roll corresponding to their respective polling stations.
The publication of the final electoral roll marks an important step in the preparations for the Silchar Municipal Corporation elections, ensuring that eligible electors have the opportunity to verify their details before the polling process begins.
