Aizawl, September 12, 2026: In a major anti-narcotics operation in Mizoram, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Seling Naka Party of Aizawl District Executive Force (DEF) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has seized methamphetamine tablets valued at approximately ₹5.59 crore.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out at Seling, Mizoram, on September 11, according to the Assam Rifles.
During the operation, the joint team intercepted two vehicles suspected of being involved in the movement of narcotics. A search resulted in the recovery of 6.991 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, with the seized contraband estimated to be worth around ₹5.59 crore.
Two individuals were also apprehended during the operation.
Following the seizure, the apprehended persons along with the recovered contraband were handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau. Further investigation and necessary legal proceedings will be carried out under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The latest action reflects continued coordination among security and drug-enforcement agencies to disrupt narcotics trafficking networks operating through Mizoram and the wider Northeast.
The Assam Rifles said the operation was conducted as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent the smuggling of illegal narcotics and strengthen security in the region.
