Garima Saikia Garg’s physical condition is stable, but doctors have recommended specialised counselling in Mumbai to address continuing emotional stress and sleep difficulties.
Guwahati, November 4, 2026: Medical professionals treating Garima Saikia Garg have appealed to the public to give her adequate time and privacy to recover, as arrangements are being considered for specialised counselling and further treatment in Mumbai.
Garima, wife of late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, is currently receiving treatment at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati after falling ill during a public programme last week.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, November 3, Dr Hitesh Baruah said her physical condition was stable and that she was not facing any immediate danger. However, he expressed concern over the emotional stress and difficulties with sleep and regular eating that she has been experiencing.
Medical Team Advises Specialised Counselling
According to Dr Baruah, doctors at Nemcare Hospital have recommended further medical attention at a specialised institution in Mumbai.
The decision follows an assessment of Garima’s condition, with the medical team emphasising the importance of professional counselling and adequate rest.
The doctor indicated that the proposed counselling process could take approximately 15 to 20 days.
However, the medical institution where she will receive treatment has not yet been finalised.
The selection of the facility and other arrangements will be decided following discussions between her family members and the treating doctors.
Garima Hospitalised After Falling Ill in Guwahati
Garima was admitted to Nemcare Hospital on Saturday, October 31, after becoming unwell while attending a programme at Assam Jatiya Bidyalay in Guwahati.
Doctors subsequently examined her condition and provided medical care.
Although her physical health was described as stable, the medical team reported that she continued to experience emotional difficulties following the death of her husband.
Dr Baruah said further counselling and proper rest would be important for her recovery.
Doctor Appeals to Public to Avoid Additional Pressure
During the press conference, Dr Baruah urged well-wishers and members of the public to respect Garima’s need for privacy.
He requested that people avoid placing unnecessary demands on her or interfering with her personal decisions and future plans.
The doctor stressed that her health and well-being should remain the immediate priority.
He also emphasised the importance of a peaceful environment that would allow her to rest and receive appropriate care.
Mumbai Treatment Details Awaited
The proposed move to Mumbai is intended to provide Garima with access to specialised counselling and continued medical support.
However, doctors have not yet announced the name of the receiving hospital or confirmed when the transfer will take place.
Further details are expected following consultations between the medical team and her family.
For now, doctors have advised that Garima be given sufficient rest and support as she continues her recovery.
