GUWAHATI: The Assam government has approved the creation of a new police station at Kahilipara as part of a move to strengthen policing and improve law and order management in Guwahati. The new police station will be created by reorganising the jurisdiction of the existing Dispur Police Station and will function under the East Guwahati Police District.
According to a Home Department order issued under the Assam Police Act, 2007, the Kahilipara Police Station will initially operate from Odalbakra until a permanent building is constructed. The new jurisdiction will include the Odalbakra and Bhagaduttapur police outposts, along with areas including parts of Fatasil, Garbhanga, Pahartoli, Mritunjay, Lokhra, Kerakuchi, Dhopolia and Morabharalu.
The government has also revised the boundaries of the Dispur Police Station. Under the new arrangement, Botahghuli, Baghorbori and parts of the Amsing Reserve area currently under Satgaon Police Station will be brought within Dispur Police Station’s jurisdiction.
