Guwahati, August 27: Around 200 students of the Don Bosco Evening School and NIOS Centre at Panbazar benefited from a free medical camp organised at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, in Guwahati on Wednesday.
The health camp was organised by Don Bosco School in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Gauhati South and Swagat Super Speciality Hospital. The initiative was taken under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Alex Mathew, Principal of Don Bosco School, Panbazar.
A seven-member medical team from Swagat Super Speciality Hospital conducted health check-ups and provided medical consultations and necessary medicines to the students. The team included Dr. Subhash Khanna, Dr. Swagata Bhuyan Khanna, Dr. Ayushman Khanna, Dr. Anindita P. Das, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Rishi Raj Brahma, along with other medical personnel.
The programme was attended by members of the Don Bosco community, including Fr. Thomas Lakra, Fr. C.T. Lukose, Fr. Bromio Marak, Sr. Mariam Kindo, Mollika Sharma, Dr. Gautam Sarma, Saikh Md. Sabah Al-Ahmed, Margaret Basumatary and Alumni Secretary Mukesh Achantani.
Members of the Rotary Club of Gauhati South, including Manjusri Baruah, Devajyoti Hazarika, Dipak Bhagawati, Ranjan Bhuyan, Jyoti Das, Anurekha Barkataky, Satindra Anand, Swapanjyoti Sarma, Priyama Goswami, Bishan Rai, Bimalendu Barooah, PDG Prabhat Kedia, Gayatree Goswami, Jayanta Barman, Anjan Chakravarty and Rajeev Kalita, were also present at the event.
The initiative focused on extending essential healthcare support to students and reflected Rotary’s commitment to community welfare under its motto, “Service Above Self.” Organisers expressed their commitment to continuing similar service-oriented initiatives in the future.
