DEE Assam Directs Mutual Transfer Teachers to Join New Schools Within Deadline

GUWAHATI, Aug 23: Teachers who have received postings under Assam’s Intra-District and Inter-District Mutual Transfer process have been asked to report to their new schools within the prescribed deadline, provided neither of the two transfer partners has been assigned Census-related duties.

The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam, issued the instruction following reports that some teachers covered under the mutual transfer process are yet to join their respective transferred schools despite not being engaged in Census work.

The latest direction follows the mutual transfer orders issued through the Teacher Transfer Management System (TTMS) on August 10, 2026, along with a subsequent notification issued by the Directorate on August 19.

Clarifying the position, the DEE stated that where both teachers involved in a mutual transfer are free from Census deployment or related assignments, they must complete the joining process at their newly allotted schools within the time limit specified in the terms and conditions of their respective transfer orders.

The prescribed deadline is mentioned under Point No. 1 of the Terms and Conditions attached to the transfer orders.

The Directorate has further cautioned that teachers who fail to comply with the instruction may face action. Non-compliance with the joining requirement will be treated seriously, and appropriate measures may be initiated against the concerned teacher or teachers, the notification said.

The directive is expected to ensure the timely implementation of the mutual transfer orders and prevent delays in the deployment of teachers at their newly assigned schools.
