New Delhi | July 22: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday accused the Congress and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of turning the NEET issue into a political campaign, asserting that the government remains prepared to hold a detailed discussion on the matter in Parliament.
In a post shared on his official X account, Pradhan alleged that the Congress organised a protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence during the ongoing Monsoon Session, claiming the demonstration caused inconvenience to the public and ignored established security protocols.
The Union Minister said the Centre had expressed its willingness to discuss the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) issue comprehensively in Parliament. However, he alleged that the opposition preferred protests over participating in a democratic debate on the concerns raised by students.
Pradhan further claimed that the Congress was attempting to create political confrontation rather than work towards addressing students’ issues. According to him, the government’s priority is to find solutions through parliamentary discussion instead of political agitation.
Reiterating the Centre’s position, the Education Minister said the government remains fully committed to discussing NEET and responding to students’ concerns. He added that students deserve certainty, practical solutions and responsible decision-making.
The remarks were made as opposition parties continued their protests over the NEET issue during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, where the examination has emerged as one of the key issues raised by the opposition.
