Three Women Held with 4 Kg of Suspected Ganja in Guwahati’s Beharbari During Police Raid

Guwahati, July 21: Guwahati Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers during a raid in the Beharbari area of the city, recovering approximately 4 kilograms of suspected ganja from their possession.

The operation was carried out by the Emergency and Gorchuk Police District (EGPD) team of Basistha Police Station following specific intelligence inputs about suspected drug-related activities at a hideout in the locality.

The arrested women have been identified as Jamile Khatun (35) of Dharamsala, Asatun Begum (32) of Kalgachia, and Safina Khatun (34) of South Salmara.

According to Guwahati Police, the trio was taken into custody after officers recovered the suspected cannabis during the raid. The seized contraband has been taken into police custody for further legal procedures.

Police have initiated legal action against the accused under the relevant provisions of the law. Investigators are also examining whether the arrested women were part of a larger narcotics distribution network operating in and around Guwahati.

The latest operation is part of the ongoing #WarOnDrugs and #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign, under which Assam Police has intensified action against the illegal trafficking and sale of narcotic substances across the state.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin of the seized ganja and identify any additional individuals who may be linked to the alleged drug trafficking operation.
