Guwahati (Assam): A woman was arrested and 22.44 grams of heroin was seized during an anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Guwahati Police near 4 No. Railway Gate in the Fancy Bazar area, officials said.
According to the Guwahati Police, a team from the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) attached to Fancy Bazar Outpost under Panbazar Police Station carried out a raid at a hideout near the railway gate, leading to the arrest of the accused, identified as Alia Begum.
During the operation, police recovered 19 vials of heroin weighing a total of 22.44 grams from her possession. The team also seized 44 syringes and 92 empty vials during the search.
The seized narcotics and other materials were taken into custody following the operation, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, police said.
The raid forms part of Guwahati Police’s ongoing drive against the illegal drug trade, with law enforcement agencies continuing to intensify anti-narcotics operations across the city to curb the possession, sale, and distribution of prohibited substances.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the case and identify any possible links connected to the seizure.
