Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Central Government is committed to not only stopping illegal infiltration into the country but also identifying and deporting every infiltrator. He stressed that any attempt to alter the demographic structure of the nation would not be allowed.
Addressing security concerns along the eastern border regions, Shah stated that the Border Security Force (BSF) has a major responsibility in preventing infiltration, smuggling, and illegal cross-border activities. He said the government aims to build a strong security grid to tackle infiltration routes and other illegal operations, including cattle smuggling.
The Home Minister further noted that governments in Assam, Tripura, and West Bengal are aligned in their policy against illegal infiltration. He expressed confidence that coordinated efforts between the state administrations and security agencies would strengthen border protection measures.
Shah also highlighted the importance of coordination between the BSF and local administrative authorities, including village officials, police stations, district collectors, and superintendents of police. According to him, such coordination is necessary to track infiltration routes and identify newly arrived illegal entrants.
He announced that the Union Home Ministry would soon hold a meeting with the chief ministers of Assam, Tripura, and West Bengal to discuss the issue in detail and formulate a more robust border security mechanism.
The statement comes amid increasing political and security discussions over illegal immigration and demographic changes in India’s border states.
